At long last: Part one of our discussion of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein! We recorded this back in December, and then Cleo’s tiny house fire happened, delaying release for quite longer than we had hoped. Hopefully our takes aren’t too old at this point. Then again, the podcast is called “Cleo and Ian Catch Up,” so this is kind of on brand.
In this episode, we discuss our initial thoughts on the movie, a lot of the visual choices and symbolism del Toro uses throughout, and the differences between the novel and the movie–particularly, its portrayal of Victor. We hope you enjoy!
